It's Interview Season (College Graduates)

The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you are dressed and what you are wearing. This is why it is imperative to make sure you dress professionally for a job interview, no matter the work environment. Being dressed inappropriately is a sure way to be over looked during the interview process.

You want that first impression to be not just a good one, but, a great one. The candidate dressed in the proper suit and tie will make a much better impression than the candidate who seems as if he went and purchased his attire 10 minutes before the interview.

How to Dress for an Interview:

• Suit (solid color – Black, Navy or Grey)

• Long sleeve shirt (white or coordinated with the suit)

• Belt (Corresponds with shoes)

• Tie (Red is a POWER tie) Blue, Maroon, Orange

• Dark socks, conservative leather shoes

• Watch (Coordinates with your shoes & Belt)

• Neat, professional hairstyle (Clean Cut)

• Cologne (Not too much- Hit you neck and wrists)

• Neatly trimmed nails (NO dirt under your finger nails)

• Portfolio or briefcase

What Not to Bring to the Interview

• Gum (Do not chew gum during an interview, extremely unprofessional)

• Cell phone (Leave in the car or place on silent)

• Coffee or soda (Water ONLY)

• If you have lots of piercings, leave ALL of them at home

• Cover tattoos

Interview Attire Tips

• Before you go on an interview, make sure you have appropriate interview attire and everything fits correctly a couple of days prior to.

• Get your clothes ready the night before, so you don't have to spend time getting them ready on the day of the interview. (Iron every thing)

• If your clothes are dry clean only, take them to the cleaners after an interview, so they are ready for next time. (ALWAYS be prepared)

• Polish your shoes. (A mans shoes says a lot about him self)

• Bring a breath mint and use it before you enter the building.` (Not during interview)
